Turnitin Revision Assistant and Feedback Studio are Finalists in 2017 CODiE Awards for Best Education Technology

Judges say Turnitin products support teachers in writing instruction and describe Revision Assistant and Feedback Studio as “student centered,” “impressive,” and providing “intelligent markup.”

Oakland, Calif.

Turnitin Revision Assistant and Turnitin Feedback Studio progress to the final round in the SIIA (Software and Information Industry Association) CODiE Awards this year. These products join a small group of education technology tools being recognized as top products for educators, administrators, and instructors in K12 and higher education.

With Feedback Studio, educators and instructors can give students relevant feedback that helps them to improve their writing and learn how to properly cite and reference sources. Feedback Studio is a finalist for two categories of the CODiEs: the Best Source for Reference or Education Resources, and Best Learning Capacity Building Solution, which recognizes tools that increase attention, responsibility, independence, and engagement in learning. One judge commented that Feedback Studio uses “intelligent markup noting similar uses of phrasing by others which gives students substantially broader feedback on how their words might be read or how they might fine tune their meaning.”

Revision Assistant is a finalist in the category for Best Emerging Education Technology Solutions. Launched in 2014, Revision Assistant is an instructional tool that gives immediate, specific, and actionable feedback to students while they are engaged in the process of writing essays in response to specific prompts, many of which are source-based. One judge immediately recognized the motivational potential of Revision Assistant stating that it “encourages critical thinking and reflection” and “allows much more meaningful conferences with their teachers over their writing.” Another judge wrote, “Revision Assistant makes rewriting easy to understand, self-directed and fun.”

“The CODiE Awards are probably the most anticipated awards of the education industry,” said Chris Harrick, vice president of marketing for Turnitin. “Year after year, the CODiEs shine a spotlight on the very best products to support education and learning. Having Revision Assistant and Feedback Studio among this year’s cohort is a great honor.”
